Jim Dooley has been head of collections and technical services at the University of California, Merced since 2003.  Prior to coming to UC Merced he held a variety of positions in technical services and special collections at the University of Utah.  He serves on various University of California systemwide committees including collections licensing, shared print and cataloging and metadata services.  He has presented at previous Charleston Conferences and at the American Library Association Annual Conference.  In addition, he has served in various capacities in the Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) including chair of the Acquisitions Section.  Currently he is co-editor with Allen McKiel of a regular column in Against the Grain on changing library operations.
